UPDATE

  • A message from Pam regarding the Not For Sale Campaign meeting held at the shop. Here is a picture of two people who stopped by and we got to talk to about modern day slavery and human trafficking.NFS - Wash Perk 004 One girl volunteered to help with our organization and the 27 million people enslaved worldwide.
Each year 1 million children are forced into sex trafficking, 15,000-17,000 people are trafficking into the US and is a $32 Billion business. Spreading awareness is one of the best ways to bring a stop to this injustice. Thanks so much for your help and for the customers who came by and learned about modern day slavery!Pam Harvey

  • POO FREE PARKS: (the following was copied from letter by FANS President, Cindy Johnstone):

On August 14th I reported to you that the pilot Poo Free Parks project with advertising would be starting soon in Washington Park.  That email was following the August Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting where the pilot was endorsed by the board.  Today I received a call from my Councilman’s office that the Poo Free Park project and contract has been suspended and is no longer going to take place at this time.  The City’s budget crisis with the need to reduce the budget by 14% is the primary  focus of each city department and City Council. Hard decisions are having to be made that will go into effect in September.  The other important focus for the city is the new zoning code and this also requires the full attention of City Council and city officials.

Not For Sale Event from 1pm – 5pm

Join us for an Modern Day Slavery Awareness Event www.notforsalecampaign.org

The Not for Sale Campaign combines technology, intellectual capital, abolitionist groups and a growing network of individuals joined together to end slavery in our lifetime. Igniting and aiding this comprehensive response is the Not For Sale Campaign’s purpose. Our collective challenge is simple, stand with those who are enslaved, work together to free them, and empower them in their freedom to break the cycle of vulnerability.
