Washington/Emerson Two Way Reversion Meeting

Thu, November 5, 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Epiphany Lutheran Church, Ohio and Corona

Since the last public meeting on this Councilman Nevitt and the West Washington Park Neighborhood Association have been negotiating with Denver Public Works. These negotiations have come to fruition, at long last. Public Works has committed to making substantial changes to these streets to mitigate non-neighborhood traffic, and will perform a final evaluation in 5 years for complete reversion to two-way. The details are a bit long for an email thread, but there is significant progress (and in my opinion, there is light at the end of the tunnel). During this meeting I will present the details of the plan, and facilitate a discussion with you, the impacted neighbors. The Manger of Traffic, Brian Mitchell, will be in attendance to answer questions, along with Councilman Nevitt, who has been integral to obtaining this agreement. I hope you are able to attend, and feel free to pass this along to others who live on Washington and Emerson so they may attend as well.

FALL LEAF DROP

Sun, November 8, 10am – 4pm Southeast – South High School (Louisiana Ave. & Franklin St.)

It’s time once again to rake up and recycle the leaves in your yard and help make sure that they are turned into compost! On the first three Sundays in November (Nov. 1, 8 & 15), residents may drop off an unlimited amount of leaves at five Leaf Drop locations. LeafDrop is brought to you by Denver Recycles, a program of Solid Waste Management/Denver Pubic Works. Removing yard debris, such as leaves, from our waste stream is important in reducing our impact on global warming and the environment. Consider recycling your leaves by digging them into your garden, composting them at home or using a lawn mower to mulch small amounts into your grass. Using your fallen leaves in this manner can help you create a healthy lawn or garden! Remember to never sweep your leaves into the street. This clogs up storm sewers and street sweeper vehicles.
