WASH PERK’S GOING GREEN PLAN

We believe that as a business and as individuals in this shop we can do more to decrease our waste first and then we can come from a place of love and encouragement to offer customers options to choose reusable containers whenever possible. Words, rules and imposing opinions are toxic to our planet, too. Wash Perk wishes to minimize that kind of harm as we make choices that fit for us. Everyone gets personal choice, and we are a business that wants to encourage, not punish. We are open to your ideas as we move forward. Listed below are some of the ways we are “greening” up the shop.

  • We have ordered 2oz glass jars and lids for our condiments.
  • We’ve switched over to bulk sweeteners (convenience packs are behind counter).
  • We are trying to switch over to as much glass and aluminum beverages in carry out fridge.

We are also going to be offering new products to push forward with our green plan:

  • 16oz and 24oz double wall insulated reusable tumblers
  • Reusable Bamboo utensil sets = $12
  • Wrap n Mats = $7
  • Stainless Steal Straws = $3.25
  • Wash Perk Travel Mugs = $15

EVENTS AT WASHINGTON PARK

FANS Meeting

Wed, January 13, 6pm – 7pm at Dos Chappell Boathouse in Wash Park

Our first speaker of the year will be Tom Bush and his topic will be Birds in our Backyard and in the park. Tom, a member of the Audubon Master Birder Program with extensive experience in birding and owner of the Front Range Birding Company, will present an overview of birds in our area and how to attract them to your backyard. Birds in Washington Park are a joy to watch and a measure of the health of our park. Come hear about what we can do to increase bird habitat and see pictures of birds that are in the Denver area. If you have a picture of a bird you have seen in the park or in your backyard

bring it in and we can share. Plan to attend and bring a friend!

IN OUR COMMUNITY

January 1.11.10 is Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
We want to celebrate this day by actively raising awareness and taking positive steps to end the problem.
We have the following suggestions:

1) Make it your Facebook status, and if you have Twitter we will be trying to get Human Trafficking to be a trending topic
2) Educate yourself on the issue – go to the national website: www.notforsalecampaign.org
3) Make a New Years Resolution for 2010 to only buy Fair Trade coffee, chocolate or another product you use consistently
