A Spirited, Wild Bunch!

Steve Meyer, winner of our coffee bike naming contest, and his MS150 team, The Wild Bunch, created an upbeat back drop on a dreary day this past week when 9News came to Wash Perk.  Jennifer Ryan introduced the video piece she created about our cargo coffee bike.   Steve Meyer won the naming contest when his submission, The Perkolator, received the most votes from customers.

Vince Nickols, the Team Captain and his Wild Bunch will cycle in the 2 day ride June 25th and 26th raising funds for The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Various members of the group will join our baristas at The Perkolator in Washington Park the weekend of June 4th and 5th.  Wash Perk will donate all proceeds from the weekend to the team and their MS 150 efforts.

WASH PERK’S TV DEBUT

Wash Perk and the newly named PERKOLATOR coffee bike are lucky enough to be featured this week on 9News on Wednesday, May 11th from 6-7am, LIVE at shop.  PLEASE come join us if you can drag yourself out of bed!  Gregg Moss and Jennifer Ryan will be at shop looking to talk to YOU who have helped us survive through this recession. Jennifer Ryan has already spent around 5 hrs with us and the coffee bike, both at shop and at Washington Park.

The Perkolator name was given by Steve Meyer and won the popular vote.  Thank you all for participating.  Steve chose the MS 150 to be the recipient of a weekend of Perkolator sales at Washington Park. This is his prize :-P We will announce the weekend very soon on Facebook and on Wednesday with 9News.  The MS 150 is a two day fundraising bicycle ride on June 25th and 26th benefitting The Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of The National MS Society.

Wash Perk will be 3 Years old on Friday, April 1st!

Wash Perk’s Birthday Week

Seems hard to believe that we are only 3 years old this week!  What a wonderful little big life we’ve had.  Mention this posting on Friday, April 1st to get 30% off any beverage. Unlimited through day! Thank you for your continued support and patronage.

Look for our celebration details in the next couple of weeks.  We will do our annual celebration/Easter Bunny visit on Sunday, April 17th from 11-1 at shop.  We will have LIVE MUSIC, photos and treats with Easter Bunny and a “mini Tour de Fat”:  we invite kiddos to decorate themselves and their bikes and join the Easter Bunny and our new Perk Cycle in a procession from Wash Park to Wash Perk at 10:30 am , “Park to Perk, Bunny and Bike Procession”.

BIKE RACK INSTALLED!!!

Thanks to Jason “Bear” Berrett, our 12 bike rack was installed last week.  Ride down to see us!

PERK CYCLE SCHEDULE

We will be in our spot, at the NW corner of Smith Lake, in front of the Dos Chappell Bath House, each Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am-4:30pm (weather permitting) from May – October!!!!  Look for us there!   Details on Naming Contest coming next week.  We will vote on entries and reveal on May 1st.

 

GOODBYE to Katie Walker

This Wednesday will be the last official shift for our much loved Katie…. she is continuing her passion and career in photography with a full time position.  She will always be welcome back and so if we’re lucky, we’ll see her smiling face intermittently around the shop, behind the counter or enjoying a book on her off days.  We wish her well always.

Wash Perk Trail Runners: Sunday, March 13th leave Perk promptly at 8:30 am.  Led by Kristen Adams.

Around the Perk this week:

FANS Meeting: Wednesday, March 9th at Dos Chappell Bath House, 6-7pm.  Discussion will be on the water at the park. Everyone is welcome.

St. Patty’s Day Parade: Saturday, March 12th at 10 am-2pm, beginning at Coors Field parking lot.

Perk- Cycle will be at the start and finish, supporting the Denver Bike Sharing Program and B-Cycle peeps.  

We welcome Gisma Zaki to our Wash Perk family.   Gisma has some developmental/language challenges, and she is fully capable of contributing significantly to our community and care of shop.  Please introduce yourself to her if you see her around.

Metrofiets "dry fitting" our cargo on to Perk-Cycle

UPDATES:

PERK CYCLE is now expected to arrive sometime next week.  The sink and pastry case will be installed, the box stained, logo placed, all parts assembled…. and then she will be shipped.   We hope to participate with B-Cycle brigade at St. Patty’s Parade on March 12th.  One of the Metrofiets owners, Phil Ross, will be here visiting March 13th-15th, helping us to introduce this super cool gift.

STAFF MEETINGS: We will begin this month closing at 6pm on the FIRST TUESDAY of each month in order to allow us to continue our staff meetings and share dinner together.  We’ll post reminders every month. We apologize for the inconvenience.

AWNINGS for south facing windows will be installed before the end of March by Four Seasons Awnings.  They’ve been great to work with already and we’re excited to help our HVAC systems be more efficient this season.

BIKE RACK on SW treeline  of property will be installed in next couple of weeks. We will be able accommodate 12-16 bikes and keep our walkways clear. So please, bike to see us!  We will keep our 6 bike rack on patio, as well.
