Metrofiets "dry fitting" our cargo on to Perk-Cycle

UPDATES:

PERK CYCLE is now expected to arrive sometime next week.  The sink and pastry case will be installed, the box stained, logo placed, all parts assembled…. and then she will be shipped.   We hope to participate with B-Cycle brigade at St. Patty’s Parade on March 12th.  One of the Metrofiets owners, Phil Ross, will be here visiting March 13th-15th, helping us to introduce this super cool gift.

STAFF MEETINGS: We will begin this month closing at 6pm on the FIRST TUESDAY of each month in order to allow us to continue our staff meetings and share dinner together.  We’ll post reminders every month. We apologize for the inconvenience.

AWNINGS for south facing windows will be installed before the end of March by Four Seasons Awnings.  They’ve been great to work with already and we’re excited to help our HVAC systems be more efficient this season.

BIKE RACK on SW treeline  of property will be installed in next couple of weeks. We will be able accommodate 12-16 bikes and keep our walkways clear. So please, bike to see us!  We will keep our 6 bike rack on patio, as well.

Coffee Price Increase March 1st:

No, it has nothing to do with our expansion.  And, our Coffee Bike is a gift from Debbi.

Well, it’s bad timing for all of us and I wonder what price a great cup of coffee will be in the next few years…. For me, Wash Perk is obviously about more than the coffee, but hands down….. the full bodied, fair trade, perfectly roasted by wonderful local peeps cup o joe is the main starting point for all that Wash Perk is built upon.  Thank you, Kaladi Coffee.

We have only raised prices once since opening and it was $0.10.  Prices across the board have slowly risen and we try very hard to not react too soon in passing on costs to our customers.  This increase, I’ve been advised, is too much for us to bare alone, as our prices were already lower than most,  and try to survive as a small business with narrow margins.

Coffee drinks will go up $0.25.  Whole bean bags will be up $3.00.  Travel mug discount will go up to $0.25 discount, but only because we want to find a way to keep reinforcing less waste.  This will not cover the increase for us, but becomes a shared choice.  We understand how big of an impact this will have on all of us.

February 14th-20th

Happy Valentine’s Day, Everyone!

I don’t tend to think of Valentine’s Day as strictly for romance.  I love the focus on “love” of all kinds, on nurturing, on pleasure (those chocolate whoopie cookies from Simple Sugar!) on expanding our capacity for love and enjoyment.  I have always enjoyed this day, with or without a partner.  I wish you all a wonderful, loving, heart-bursting week.

Wash Perk Trail Runners: led by Kristen Adams,  Sunday, Feb. 20th 8:30 departure from Perk. Return by 11 am.

Brainstorming Follow up:

We had a fantastic brainstorming session about our soon to arrive Coffee Bike.  The decision for us to order the bike 6 months ago was a slightly informed, mostly intuitive decision (as most are for me!), and so we asked for help in shaping the best use and roll out of this fun union of commerce and sustainable transport.  Debbi and I feel so fortunate to have such smart and enthusiastic peeps in our lives.

February 7th-February 13th

Introducing our Google Barcode

We have this barcode that goes directly to our “From the Green Cup” page, thanks to Julie North, our DU grad student that is conducting a  Wash Perk Sustainability Assessment.  Peeps with “smart phones” can take a picture of this barcode at our shop and it will take them to our page that contains information about our attempts and successes in becoming more sustainable as a business.
