ATTENTION!

Warning to Pet Lovers:

Debbi and I had a big scare last week when our 11 yr old Golden, Jonni, got in to the trash and ate raw pastry dough.  I had thrown away “Butter Braids” from the freezer.  Luckily we were home to notice her distended stomach.  Apparently, not only is expansion of the dough potentially life threatening, but also the release of alcohol (ethanol) from the yeast as it ferments is highly toxic to their organs and nervous system.  She had cold water gastric lavage (to stop yeast from fermenting) and her stomach had to be pumped.  It was a long overnight at VRCC and almost a surgery to be sure all was expelled!  Jonni is now back to resuming her ninth life……. and we are so very glad to have her.  We had no idea, and so I wanted to pass this on to all you animal lovers!  Thanks for all of your thoughts and wishes that day!  Teri and Debbi, Jonni and Ipo
