An attempt to allay concerns and misinformation

I had hoped to keep some of this information to myself, Debbi, Janice and our staff for just a bit longer. Many of you have expressed concern about our process and how it might unfold, so I want to share what I am able.

We are still gathering data about what Wash Perk needs to live and grow in a healthy and financially sustainable manner.  As many of you know, Wash Perk was born without a business plan or financial goal!  This was a very intuitive venture for both Debbi and me, because this space was in our neighborhood, because we love great coffee, and because we both appreciate so many aspects of being in community.  We had never dreamed or planned for a business or a coffee shop.

This has been THE GREATEST gift, challenge and learning for me as an adult.  I am very happy to be on this path and I want to continue (despite how stressed I may look these daysJ). I’ve been taking courses and learning as fast as I can to try to be the very best custodian of  this great shop.

Wash Perk is absolutely NOT in danger of closing.

We have experienced advisors and a wonderful staff helping to establish the pieces we need behind the bar to do better and have a long life. We welcome your wishes and desires for how we can improve the experience for you, and I ask that you email me or put your thoughts on Facebook.  I am unable to stop and talk with everyone about the process, but I don’t want you to feel excluded or misinformed.

We never planned to get rich on coffee and we don’t need to be big and bustling.  Our goal is to improve our back bar efficiency so that we can meet the needs of the time crunch a.m. commuters and weekend crowds, as your support allows us to survive! There are some limitations in this wonderful, 100 year old building as we navigate this next change, so many options are being considered.  We are exploring the feasibility of various architectural solutions.

As always, thank you for the support and energy that you’ve brought to us at Wash Perk. I know I say it a lot, but every one of you matters in the life of a small business.

Teri, Debbi and your Wash Perk staff
